As some of my long time readers may have noticed, I have moved more into behind-the-scenes and planning during fashion week rather than front of house reporting. I think a lot of it has to do with when I started my position as Social Media Strategist at Nanette Lepore. After working with Nanette season after season, I started to gain a new appreciation for the craftiness of all the work that goes into creating a runway show.
There’s a real art to what the girls at Nanette do around this time of year (and all year around!!). From the print designers to the “sweater girls.” A lot of times, because I don’t have a job that’s so tangible to the outside world, I get asked by visitors “So, what do you do?” Well, at the bulk of it, I manage people and content. I am on a small team that is responsible for keeping the online brand of Nanette Lepore cohesive and consistently updated. During Fashion Week, from dressing celebrities to making sure we have the right seating arrangements at Lincoln Center, the position is crucial and super demanding.
To stay super organized I’ve been using Microsoft Office’s OneNote, and more specifically SkyDrive. Both platforms are kind of lifesavers when I have a million handwritten notes laying around and I just want them to make their way onto my drive at the snap of a photo so I can share them seamlessly with my team. It’s also makes life a lot easier because I can move from my work desk to my home desk without worrying that something will get lost in between. Great, right?
